Last night Sam woke up at 2 am barking like a seal courtesy of an unpredicted case of croup. When one kid wakes up so does the other one. And they want 2 things - me & each other. Which means the 3 of us didn't get much sleep. (Although to be fair, neither did Phil)
So this morning, unable to go to school, we headed to an Ocean Park, Pre- pediatrician visit.
I feel guilty taking him to school but I don't feel guilty potentially infecting random Chinese. After all - their pollution issues gave my kids all these respiratory problems to begin with.
Karma.
And, in my state of exhaustion, I needed to be sure they would nap. And a bad night of sleep + Ocean Park = nap. Throw in a respiratory virus and some cold medicine...this mama was getting some rest.
Until we got home and no one napped.
Sigh.
So we snuggled and watched a movie, made chocolate chip cookies, Painted, Play-doughed, colored, & took a bath.
It was right about that time I decided to sit down and let them play independently for a few minutes. They weren't crying so I stopped paying attention and started reading an article on pregnancy.
It wasn't until Phil called to check in that I realized I had completely lost control.
Our conversation went like this:
4:30 pm
Phil: Hey, what are the boys up to?
Me: Um, they were playing in the tent with a bag of pretzels and few sticks of butter but now they've run off into one of the bedrooms. I'm waiting until someone cry to go check on them.
Yep, I heard myself.
Mommy needs a nap....and while I'm wishing maybe a bath.
