Sam's First Christmas

Each Christmas season I think back over the past Christmas seasons and think of favorite times, presents etc.... this Christmas I didn't spend much time thinking about previous years because I know this year is by far the best Christmas's ever! We are so blessed this year to have Sam!
Here are a few pictures (out of order - sorry) from our Christmas in Decatur and in Cincinnati. We are so lucky to all be together and to be happy and healthy this Christmas!!!

Apparently Rudolph is one scarey reindeer

Today we went to the doctor for Sam's four month check up. He weighs a bit over 14lbs and is 28 inches long. Tall and skinny. Big surprise. His doctor suggested the baby bumbo. When she mentioned it I thought, No way he is big enough for that thing... once we got home, I brought it out and to my surprise......

LOVES IT!!!

Then, we tried Rudolph.

HATES IT!!!!!

Sam's First Thanksgiving

The most exciting news from Thanksgiving is that Sam got his first two teeth in! His two front teeth on the bottom to be exact. No picture yet....

Phil and I carrying on a tradition from my childhood with the wishbone...
In Decatur, we started a new Thanksgiving tradition...The Geneva Turkey Trott! After much trash talk, Eustace cleaned my clock, but the whole family had a blast. Let the training for next year begin.....
The loser, and the winner....

Post race with my cheering section.....

The whole family after everyone was finished! Even Lucy ran the whole way, and she did amazing!!!!!!

Sam with his Great Aunt Doris, who he loved rocking with.....

The boys watching football.....
note, Sam couldn't take his eyes off the TV for the picture because he is OBSESSED with television!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Whats the occasion? Sam's Baptism!! We feel so blessed and grateful to have have daddy home safe and to get to spend the weekend with our whole family and to have celebrated this amazing milestone in Sam's life!

Barely Surviving Bath time

Well, bath time this week came and went and Sam grew dirtier. So last night, with some grandparent-al help we tried to give Sam a bath. Lets just say, Mom made the water a bit too hot so we ended up traumatizing Sam and sponging him off instead. Woops. Sorry buddy...

Chatting with Sam on Halloween

Happy Halloween

Sam woke up this morning full of smiles in his festive attire ready for his first Halloween. The pumpkin hat he is wearing below is the only item left of his pumpkin costume that still fits him. He is getting too tall for most of his clothes, but not quite filling them out in the waist... this may be a trend....

Phil won't be here for Sam's first Halloween because he is traveling for work. So....we threw an early Halloween party before he left and dressed Sam up in a few Halloween Costumes so daddy wouldn't miss out....
Sam feeling kinda silly in his way too small pumpkin outfit....

My reindeer outfit

My football player outfit...which is actually just a football and a bare midriff...
(hands off Larry David)

Happy Halloween Daddy- we miss you!

Mom is for Milk, Dad is for Giggles

I hope to post a video soon, but have not yet been able to capture it... However Sam is officially giggling now. It doesn't seem like that big of deal, but combining that big gummy grin with a case of the giggles is just so darn cute.

Why haven't I been able to capture it? Well, apparently Mom isn't really that funny. But whenever dad comes around, life seems to get hilarious. Pretty much any interaction with Phil makes Sam giggle. Even if I imitate what Phil does, I can't get the giggle. I usually get a, "Get outta here mom, this is a boy thing" look.

This morning Phil was getting ready and Sam and I were in a different room. Just hearing Phil talking and singing made him smile and laugh. I must admit, I absolutely love seeing the father son bonding starting already.

Hopefully my sense of humor will be an acquired taste.
